These are times of great panic and frustration for many people, and amongst the frustrated are a group of parents who are finding it difficult to tackle the urgency of getting their children vaccinated during this pandemic.

The confusion seems to have initially begun when it was announced by family groups that the laws in place currently, state that the final choice of whether to take a vaccine or not lies in the hands of the children themselves.

With this statement many parents were left wondering how to manage the situation.

It was at this point that it was announced that the Health Secretary is planning to push through the vaccination of all between the ages of 12 to 15 years old.

However this only added to the frustrations of parents as the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation is only recommending that the jab for kids within that age range who are at higher risk.

The Health Secretary has currently instructed the four chief medical officers to provide their assessment of this as well.

There is a lot of confidence that as of now, the Chief Medical Officer, will give the final green light with the NHS ready to act if approval is provided.

“We have seen an incredible amount of concern among parents about the suggestion that parental consent for children as young as 12 may either be overridden or not needed if you are relying on Gillick competence,” said Molly Kingsley, the co-founder of the parent campaign group UsForThem.

It is yet to be seen the impact of sending children to school in a manner where certain people are unvaccinated, however the belief is that a rise in cases can be expected. In the coming months, the results of this can be clear for all to see.
