4 military Sergants arrested over Kandakadu inmate death. Remanded until 14th of July.

Four Sergeants attached to the Sri Lanka Army and Air Force have been arrested over the death of an inmate at the Kandakadu Rehabilitation center earlier this week.

It has been reported that these individuals have been serving as counselors at the Rahab center.

Nearly 600 inmates escaped following the tense situation that took place at the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday (12) following a death of an inmate. Police later got the situation under control.

Meanwhile, the police said a piece of wire and two bamboo sticks suspected to have been used to assault the
inmate were found.

However, more than 679 inmates who were apprehended after the escape have been remanded after they were produced before the court.

The police have appealed to the general public inform of any escapees via 071 859 1235.
