In February 2023, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) announced the nominations for its 76th annual film awards ceremony, which will be held on April 2, 2023.
The announcement of the nominees was made in a live streamed event hosted by actor Tom Holland, who himself is a BAFTA winner for his role in the film “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. The event was broadcast on BAFTA’s social media channels, as well as on its website.
A number of films received multiple nominations, with “The Power of the Dog” leading the way with 12 nominations, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actress. Other films that received multiple nominations include “Belfast”, “Dune”, “Licorice Pizza”, and “West Side Story”.
In addition to the film nominations, BAFTA also announced the nominees for its television awards, which will take place on April 23, 2023. The television nominations were led by the show “It’s a Sin”, which received 11 nominations, including Best Drama Series, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actress.
BAFTA’s film awards ceremony is one of the most prestigious events in the film industry, and its nominees and winners are often seen as indicators of who may go on to win at the Academy Awards, which will be held on April 9, 2023.
