Lancashire’s police and crime commissioner, Andrew Snowden, has announced that an independent review will be conducted into the police handling of the disappearance and subsequent death of Nicola Bulley. Bulley went missing on 27 January while walking her dog by the River Wyre and was found dead in the river on Sunday. The review, commissioned by Snowden, will be conducted by the College of Policing and will focus on the investigation and search, communication and public engagement, and the release of personal information. Police were criticised for disclosing that the 45-year-old had been struggling with menopause and alcohol issues. The Independent Office for Police Conduct has also launched an investigation into a police visit to Bulley’s home weeks before her disappearance.
