Selena Gomez has announced that she will be taking a break from social media following backlash she received for defending her close friend Taylor Swift. The backlash came after a video surfaced of Hailey Bieber and Method Man mocking Taylor’s songs. Selena responded to the video by defending Taylor in the TikTok comments section, causing some to speculate that she was indirectly criticizing Hailey. In response, Selena announced on TikTok Live that she will be taking a break from social media, stating that she is “too old for this.” Although Selena deactivated her TikTok account, her Instagram account remains active. Selena and Taylor have been friends since 2008, while Selena previously dated Justin Bieber, who is now married to Hailey. Despite ongoing rumors of tension between Selena and Hailey, both women have denied any bad blood between them.
