Chancellor Jeremy Hunt announced his Spring Budget in the House of Commons with measures to support working parents, create new Investment Zones and stimulate growth. The free childcare scheme for working parents is expected to be expanded to include one and two-year-olds. The Treasury also confirmed that energy bill support will continue until the end of June. The government’s plan for benefits reform and pensions is aimed at getting more people into work as public finances remain fragile due to increased government borrowing.
