Lucy, a 13-year-old blind pianist from West Yorkshire, has been declared the winner of The Piano, a talent show that aimed to discover some of the UK’s most talented pianists. In the final, Lucy was awarded performance of the night by judges singer-songwriter Mika and Chinese pianist Lang Lang. All four grand finalists, including 25-year-old Jay from the Isle of Wight, 27-year-old Sean from Edinburgh, and 26-year-old Danny from Manchester, were discovered playing on public pianos at some of the UK’s busiest train stations. Lucy, who also has autism and learning disabilities, impressed the audience and judges with her exceptional talent during her performance at Leeds train station. Mika described Lucy’s performance as “something extraordinary” that would be remembered by everyone in the audience.
