According to BBC news, the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin on charges of war crimes. The court alleges that Putin is responsible for the unlawful deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia, among other crimes committed during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which began on 24 February 2022.

The ICC accuses Putin of committing these war crimes in Ukraine and has issued the arrest warrant accordingly. However, Moscow has denied any allegations of war crimes during the invasion.

The move by the ICC is significant, as it marks the first time a sitting head of state has been issued with an arrest warrant by the court. The ICC is an international tribunal that investigates and prosecutes individuals for genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes. The court’s decision to issue the warrant for Putin is likely to be a highly contentious issue and may lead to further tensions between Russia and the international community.
