The report, published by UN Water and Unesco, highlights that overconsumption and pollution have made water scarcity a growing global problem, with seasonal water shortages expected to worsen due to climate change. The report further notes that roughly half of the world’s population currently experiences severe water scarcity at least part of the year. The UN Water Summit, the first major water conference since 1977, is set to take place in New York, with thousands of delegates attending the three-day event. The summit aims to find new ways to manage water resources more effectively, given the growing concern about the state of the world’s water supply.
